It’s been a great weekend. Spring has sprung. It’s amazing, you wake up one day and realise winter is over for another year. I’ve been quite busy as a result. We’ve moved the Blommehöns out to their summer accommodation and some sun on their backs is doing them the world of good. The cockerel is strutting around looking wonderful in the spring sunshine.
The eggs from the Blommehöns that I’ve had in the incubator for the last three weeks have hatched, we got twelve out of the thirteen set so that was really good and now I have a brooder full of lively young chicks. I’m expecting some Cream Legbar eggs this week so the incubator has had a good clean with virkon and is ready to be reset. If it continues like this we’ll be overrun with chicks, but that’s not necessarily such a bad thing. The cats have recovered from their neutering, in fact 24 hours later and you would never know that anything had happened, they were bounding all over the place. They are spending so much time in the uterum; they can’t wait to get outside. They just have one more set of vaccinations at the beginning of April and then they can be unleashed on the local wildlife. I finally feel I’m getting somewhere with the Swedish language. It’s about the first time I think I’m making progress and have a vocabulary capable of saying at least the basics. The private tuition has really paid off. The weather today is glorious, I think I’ll be able to get out and do some work on the vegetable beds tomorrow, they are behind schedule, but nothing too serious. I think that life around Alledal is going to get a lot busier from no. The slow and quiet times of winter are behind us and with the spring come a frenzy of things that need to be done. |
