OK so as I said last time we had been invited to a Midsummer party. It is of course common knowledge that this (like a lot of Swedish festivals) involves eating copious amounts of herring, drinking an equal amount of vodka, schnapps and aquavit while dancing round the Swedish variant of a maypole pretending to either be a frog or a bird depending upon the storyteller. I think it’s safe to say I wasn’t overly excited. |

We have honey. We spent some of Sunday afternoon extracting our first Swedish honey. It was a very satisfying thing to see the honey flow and fill the jars. |

This came to mind today, I'm not sure why. I can't even recall clearly when or where I learnt it and it took just a little searching to find out where it was from. I knew it was Robert Browning, I thought maybe a quote from The Ring and the Book but I was wrong as the title suggests it was from Paracelsus. |

Summer is definitely here. The temperature is in the high 20°C and has been for most of the week and looks set to continue. To be honest I’m starting to feel it. Not to complain too much though. |

What’s been happening? It’s been a while since I wrote about progress, so here’s an update. The weather [I’m English I’m allowed to have a weather fixation] has been just perfect, beautiful warm days, occasional rain and everything has benefited. The vegetables are all growing well particularly the potatoes, we may even have an early crop soon. |

On Friday afternoon I was walking the dog down by the Billabäck when Troy started to get really agitated barking and growling which is not his normal behaviour while out for a walk. I ran over to see what was upsetting him to find a heron attacking some ducklings. |
